Email from Nigerian Community Association QLD -Dated 12 May 2012

Our People,
many of us may be unaware that NCAQ is a member of Queensland African Community Council (QACC) the body that represents the African Ethnic Communities in Queensland. It is our thinking that there are benefits to be derived from being a member as we are able to present for conversation and engagement issues unique to NCAQ.
As a follow up to our earlier e-mail message, we are inviting members of our community to the Africa Day Festival Nigeria Stall.

Venue: Lawn of African House, East Brisbane, (38 Lytton Road, East Brisbane).
Date: 20 May 2012
Time: 10:00am - 4:00pm

Given the uniqueness of Nigeria and her rich culture, we view making the Nigeria stall alive during this festival as a collective responsbility of all members of our community as this would help in Nigeria image building. The Executive has decided to make our presence known during this festival through fashion (cultural attire) parade and display of Nigerian crafts.
The NCAQ has paid for the stall while we are please requesting all members to support us by dressing in Nigerian attire and coming to our stall. This is an opportunity for us to display our diverse culture and to use all those attires that have been in our boxes or wardrobes for a long time. Ladies please come in "ice cream cone", "satellite dish", "momo kofo" etc.etc etc. Our men in all the attires that would reflect our geography and diverse culture. All we need is a short visit to our stall.
Nigerian children are crying for identity, the general Australian community wants to know us better than the negatives in the media. This is an avenue of informal education for our children and the Australian community.
Thanking you for your support.
